The Super Awesome Foot Soaker

Image
We have been having a grand old time here in Lyon. We have been walking a ton, no wonder Europeans are so skinny, everything is at least a mile a way. Well, after all that walking, I was so happy to come back to the hotel and put my feet in a nice warm foot soaker. How clever of those Europeans to invent such a thing. They even put it right next to the toliet so you can just put the toilet seat down, sit on the lid and put your feet up. I even showed Porter, he thought it was great and couldn't wait to soak his feet in it. Last night I soaked my feet, and then tonight I was soaking when a friend came to our room to grab so stuff. I jumped out of the bathroom to say 'hi,' but only for a moment. I wanted to get back to my mini spa treatment. He was going on about how we had a couch in our room and he didn't. That's when I brought up the foot soaker. I told him that it was great, perfect for tired feet. He asked to see it, so I quickly took him into the bathroom. ...

Waking Up on the Wrong Side of the World

Image
Have you ever had one of those days where you wake up on the wrong side of the bed? Well, a few mornings ago, not only did I wake up on the wrong side of the bed, I was on the wrong side of the world. Our morning was supposed to begin at 7 am. I woke up all bright eyed and bushy tailed (no jet lag!), to sun streaming in through the window and realized out alarm had not gone off. I quickly roused Porter and angrily told him the alarm we had set had not gone off, it was 9:30! Apparently, our phone thought it was Sunday morning, not Monday morning when the alarm was set for. We quickley got dressed and headed out for the day. We tried to go to the catacombs, only to realize they were closed on Monday. Having wasted our entire morning we grabbed a crepe and headed back for the hotel. Porter had a business meeting that afternoon, and I had business in the Paris shopping district to attend to. While shopping, I found the most delicious pattissori that made amazing macaroons! When Porter ret...

Bonjour!

Image
Bonjour! Well, we made it to Paris. And let me tell you, today has been the longest day of my life. We had this great plan to keep us from being jet lagged that went something like this: stay up super late on Friday night (which we did, 3:00 am), then get up at our normal time Saturday morning, finish running errands and packing then catch our flight at 4:45 that afternoon. When we got on the plane we took a sleeping pill and seriously, I was out in almost 15 minutes, we hadn't even flown out of Utah and I was off to snoozeville. I remember groggily hearing the flight attendant asking what I wanted for dinner, she listed a bunch of stuff. All I could get out was 'Penne' and Porter sleepily followed suit. Eating dinner was a haze, I actually spilt some stuff but didn't realize it until we were off the plane (how embarassing, I know, right?! Mrs. Dribbly McDripp Dripp) Anyhow, next thing I know I'm waking up thinking that I had slept for about 3 hours (the flight was ...

The Graduate

Image
My husband is finally graduating!!! It's been 3 long years, but the time has come (insert processional music here) He will be receiving his Masters of Business Administration, or MBA, on May 28 at 1:45 at the Maverick Center. You are all invited if you want to come!!! It's going to be a party. I am currently searching for the loudest air horn available. I'm so excited to have him home in the evenings and no more homework. It will be the first time since we've been together that neither of us will be doing home work. However, it will be the first time that we've had a student loan to pay for. Both of our undergrads were completely paid for by scholarships and such, but for a Master's we had to do some loans. It's like having a brand new fancy car payment, without the brand new fancy car. Boo to loan payments, but yay for Master's Degree and having the hubby home! So like I said, party on May 28th :-) Did I mention that the big culmination of this is an i...

Friday Night Fun

Image
Friday night we decided to try something new, The Chow Truck . It's this 5 star, Asian gourmet restaurant on wheels. Plus, they always are parking at different spots, so you have to look at their website to see where it's going to be, kind of like a food treasure hunt. Well, we found them, it just took a couple U-turns and a couple dirty looks from Porter. (I may have told him 4th east when I really meant 4th west, oops!) But it was worth it in the end. I got a calamari slider and a tofu taco. I didn't like the taco, but I loved the slider. We also ate in the car, because it was too chilly outside. I love eating in the car, Porter thinks I'm funny. They have these awesome little crunchies....yum, yum! Finally, we went to Target. I wanted to look for a yellow cardigan, which I still haven't found. However, I found this awesome hula hoop. So, I had Porter test it out for me. I've been obsessed with finding a hula hoop since last summer when we saw this girl hul...

1st Jazz Game Ever

Image
On Friday, Porter texted me and asked if I would like to go to a Jazz game that night. I replied, "haha! April fools." He later called and said it wasn't April Fools and that a vendor that works with his company gave them some great tickets. He really wanted to go, and who am I to stand in the way of a man and his basketball. So, we went. They even gave us a swanky parking pass that got us V.I.P parking. Then we headed up stairs to the Sports Club for dinner, which was fabulous! We were on top of the Energy Solutions Area, eating lobster kabobs and nutella filled crepes (they were the best part of dinner). Then we headed down to our seats on row 8. Yep, I said row 8. It was great, we could see the players faces and everything. The game was very exiting. It was against the Lakers (BOOOO!), the Jazz did so good in the first half. I actually thought we might win. But the Lakers owned the floor the second half and we lost. Sadness! But all in all, it was a really fun time, a...

Nemesis

Image
The Nemesis This plant has been in our garden since we moved here. It grows uncontrollably. It has big, nasty thorns that always stick me. If it had beautiful flowers I might reconsider annihilating it, but it's flowers are just little white things. Definitely not worth inch long thorns. So I decided it was time to take it out. Also, it's in the way of my big garden project. So I began my battle. My weapons! I chopped all the branched off, then I began to dig at the root. I dug all around one. Then I started wedging the shovel under it. Just when I thought the plant was ready to be ripped from the earth, I heard a sickening "CRACK!" Casualties of War I broke my first shovel. The roots were too strong. I was very mad, but felt kind of powerful. It's not everyday I use my brute strength to break tools of war. So the bush has won for now. But I have plans that involved heavy duty clippers and very strong weed killer. So, until next we meet again, nasty thorn bu...

Bountiful Baskets

Image
When I first heard the term "bountiful basket" I thought of baskets of food sold by a farmer who lived in Bountiful, Utah, and there was no way I was going to drive all the way up there just for a basket of veggies. Well, the basket of food part was right, but not the grown and sold by Bountiful farmers. Bountiful Baskets is actually a non-profit co-op that brings great fruits and veggies to pick-up locations all over the West. I had some girls at work talking about it, so I decided to give it a go. You first need to go to the Bountiful Basket website , there you set up an account. With this account you can browse the pick-up locations and find on near you. Then you select what you want to get. The basic basket is $15.00, they also have different add-ons you can purchase. I hear the bread is great! However, you must purchase your basket quick or they disappear! Each location only has a certain number of them. They open up the sign-up Monday at noon MST and it closes Tuesday ...

A Very Naughty Little Leprechaun

Image
Did you know that my name, Erin, means girl from Ireland? Well is does! I do have some ancestors from there, so I guess it is sort of true. I know I would like go visit there for sure. My brother is living there right now, and I'm super jealous! I can't wait for an e-mail on Monday with news of the celebrations they had, plus pictures. At my school today we had a pesky leprechaun come visit our class (ME!). All the kids made traps to try and catch him. After lunch, they set all the traps out complete with ever thing from green grapes, to mangos, and even real money as bait. When they left, I began my work. I sprung all their traps, taking all the bait and moving them about the room. Then I took paint and made foot prints all over our tables and the traps, oh! and up the mirror. I put green food coloring in the toilets then turned all the chairs upside down, threw the pillows every where, knocked over the book shelf and basically demolished the classroom.....I think I had a litt...
