Double, Double, Toil and Trouble!

Image
This last Saturday, Gardner Village had their annual 'Witches Night Out.' Last year, my mom and I wanted to go but it didn't work out, so we ended up going the Thanksgiving Point for their YaYa Sisterhood Party. It was fun, but we really wanted to go check out the witches this year. My friend, Ali, joined us along the way for some wicked good fun! It was a beautiful evening, so warm and clear; we could have stayed out all night, but holy cow, talk about crowded! Apparently, all the other women in Utah decided they wanted to be witches too. It was hard to get in and out of the shops and also to get food. We really wanted to get some yummy soup in a bread bowl, but we couldn't find the right line so we ate at a little bakery instead. I was hoping there would be more activities, but it seemed mostly like a good excuse to get dressed up and go shopping, which, hey, I'm not complaining about, I just wanted a little more witchy stuff. Well, they did have a cackl...

Hamster Dance video and The Weekend!

Image
So, I saw this fun post over on Live imperfectly with great delight! on 10 fun things they did on the weekend, so I'm stealing the idea and doing it myself! 1. We went to the farmer's market Saturday morning, and I bought a big box of honey crisp apples and Asian pears. Also we ate a huge breakfast burrito and some cookies for breakfast. 2. We hung out with Brenden and Tiffany and watched the season finale of Dr. Who season 6. 3. I made an apple breakfast cobbler in the crock pot for breakfast Sunday morning. It was delicious. I have actually started a love affair with my crock pot, especially with making breakfast the night before. It is so nice to wake up to a hot breakfast on these crisp fall mornings. 4. Porter and I went to Olive Garden and shared my favorite fall treat, pumpkin cheesecake from the Olive Garden. It you haven't tried it, you NEED to. Do it! 5. Speaking of the Olive Garden, my parents and I went there for lunch on Saturday after a matinee of ...

The State Fair

Image
This weekend we went to the State Fair with our friends. We went last year and had a great time, so we thought it would make for a fun night. We were wrong. It made for a Fan-freaking-tastic time! We looked at fun booths, walked on water in giant bubbles, won contests, tried fried scorpion, rode giant yellow slides, and ate horrible, terrible, Delicious food! Brenden entered a pull-up contest, and won a sweet hat from the marines! We opted for a cute family picture with the giant pumpkins. I wanted to take one home and carve a huge jack-o-lantern, but I couldn't think how to fit it in the car and still have room to drive home. So the pumpkins stayed. Corndog Heaven Tiff and I were pro's. We walked all over that water, and slipped, fell, and rolled all over it too. Hello Mr. Goat! Brenden and Tiff made a new friend. Porter and Kit ate a fried scorpion. Porter ate the head and body and Kit ate the tail. Gross!!!! Porter told us that he needed some ice cream to wash down...

Get me to the Church preview

Image
Have you noticed how I'm totally into videos right now?! I figured out how to record on my phone and transfer them so I will probably continue to post them. But they are super fun, so I'm not apologizing. Anywho, this is a little preview from a show that I'm working on currently. I'm doing 'My Fair Lady' at Hale Center Theatre. It is going to be a fantastic show! I had my fitting for costumes yesterday, it took an hour and a half, but it was worth it. The costumes are beautiful!!! Sorry I don't have any previews of them, I forgot to take my phone into my dressing room to snap a few shots. But here you have us dancing and kind of (we were so concentrated on the dance that we forgot sometimes) singing to 'Get me to the Church.' It was the first night learning it so it is still a little rough. For example, I don't do a lift that I'm supposed to because my partner's back hurting, and we stop the music half way through and then it...

It's a Bird, It's a plane, It's a Doodlephin!

Image
We took the puppies to West Valley Cities 'Dog Days of Summer.' They clean their pool out once a year, so before they drain it, they let the dogs go play in it for a day. the dogs LOVE it! And, quite frankly, so do I. It is so fun to play in the water with them, although, it's very important to go early as the water gets pretty nasty. This is a video of us first letting them go. Puck is so funny, he keeps trying to leap through the water instead of swimming. He looks like a doodlephin ! Hope you enjoy!

Puck's Game

Image
My Standard Poodle, Puck, plays this game with me almost every morning. It is the cutest thing! I love to watch his tail go crazy, while the rest of his body stays completely still.

Transitions are Scary

Image
I recently told my school that I've taught at for the past 3 years that I would not be coming back in the fall. It was a difficult decision. I felt so safe there. I knew what was expected, I knew they would love my work, and I knew the parents would be very happy. Doesn't really sound that bad of a gig, right? Well, the problem is that I felt I was stagnating. There were no challenges, no room for the creative process that I crave and love. Creative arts with young kids is fun and super cute but not fulfilling for me as an artist. So, I decided to move on. It was a scary decision because I don't really have anything lined up as of yet. Thankfully, I do have my vocal studio, which I adore! And I'm hoping with a little extra time, I will be able to grow and nurture it along as I would like. I am also in a production of 'My Fair Lady' at Hale Center Theatre this Fall, which I'm stoked about. It will be my third time performing in this show in the last 5 years....

All on the Same Continent!

Image
For the first time in over 2 years, my whole family is on the same continent! Woohoo ! I of course swooped in and seized this golden opportunity to snap a few pictures. My Grandma Joyce, my mom and I, basically three generations of pure Class, if I do say so myself. I hope I look as good as these two when I get older. And, of course we have to have another photo shoot of the kilt. I mean, it really is that cool, we might even have another photo shoot, maybe even a movie, "A Kilt upon Kit" or perhaps "Gone with the Kilt," "KILT WARS" has a nice ring to it. No, no, I got it, "Lord of the Kilts!" And I bet you are hoping I'm done with my kilt movie titles.....but we all know I jut could keep going and going. "Harry Potter and the Deathy Kilt," "Top Kilt," "Breaking Kilt"the list...it's never ending! However, lucky for you, it's my bedtime. Ciao!

5 deadly terms used by women

Image
5 deadly terms used by women: Fine - The word women use to end an argument when she knows she is right Nothing - This means SOMETHING, and you should probably be worried. Go Ahead - This is actually a dare, not permission, do NOT do it! Whatever - Bascially means, screw you. That's okay - She is thinking long and hard How and When you will pay for your mistake I found this on facebook, and thought it was hilarious! My husband can vouch, I totally use these, and I usually mean what they say! In other news: I quit my job today (my school year teaching job) scary, I know! More to come on this at a later date. And, do you remember that hula hoop I bought a while back? Porter was filmed testing it out in Target. Well, I'm getting some pretty mad huling skills!

Kit is Home!

Image
My little brother came from serving in the Scotland/Ireland LDS Mission on Tuesday night. I was so excited to see him! Although, it was weird giving him a hug at first, I couldn't believe he was actually here and we could touch him. He had become this voice that I heard on Christmas and Mother's Day and letters every Monday. But he is home, hurray! I am not an only child anymore! Kit and my mom coming down the terminal at the airport at 10:20 last night. They had been flying and hanging out in airports for 24 hours straight. They weird almost zombified when they got here. Good thing we arrived in time to see them before they started eating brains. Tonight, we went up to visit since they had time to sleep and recover. And of course we had to have a fashion show! Kit's African outfit from Nigeria. I'm not sure how he got it in Scotland. He was doing a little dance for us when we snapped this. Kit with his traditional kilt. Apparently, it's a kilt until you put somet...
