BAM!!! I'm Back!

Image
So I haven't been on the blog in a while, more than a while.  But the weather is getting colder and it gets dark way to soon for my liking, so I think the blog and I will get to be friends again.  Just a quick recap of the spring, summer, and and fall: Porter lost 40 lbs. and competed in is first ever amateur Muay Thai Kickboxing match.  He lost, but he is back in the ring this Saturday for his second fight!  So everyone better be cheering for Le Mustache! I am still in Grad School at Westminster studied Adult Ed.  I'm working on my Thesis right now which is on Gamification of Corporate Trainings.  I basally want to look at how to make adult education fun and meaningful at the same time.  There is finally a light at the end of the tunnel, I graduate in May! We had an amazing garden this year all thanks to a magical little thing called irrigation.  Porter and I designed and installed our own system.  It was sweet, quite literal...

Impromptu Photos Shoots and Leg Hangs

Image
I shot a wedding the other day and rented a great lens for it.  Because I didn't want said awesome lens to go to waste I made Porter come out for an impromptu photo shoot with me last Sunday.  We went up to Westminster College campus and took these.  I think they turned out pretty well considering I set up the shot and took the pics via remote (a fabulous christmas present from the hubster ).  Porter really likes candid shots instead of posed ones.  So I try to set up moments where we can be in a nice position to have a candid moment, wink, wink.  It's not posing, I promise.  At least he believes it's not, so that is a win! The snow made it so bright.  After this picture I think we were both a little snow blind.  In other pole dancing news: I can finally do leg hangs!  I went to a class the other night with a fabulous teacher and ended up having a private session.  Classes where I am the only one scare me becaus...

L-O-V-E

We celebrated our Grandma Bea's birthday in early February.  It was so fun to see her and all the family.  I LOVE spending time with all of them.  I also LOVE red velvet cake.  And because her birthday was so close to Valentine's Day I decided to make her a birthday cake of red velvet cupcakes.  She LOVED it as did everyone else, especially me!  I had seconds, and didn't regret a single crumb.  It was the last family gathering at her home as her life situation is changing and she is moving.  It was definitely a bitter-sweet gathering.  We helped move many of her belongings.  She gave us a bunch of food storage.  We are all prepared for the zombie apocalypse, just fyi.  The cousins or more affectionately the FAMBAM.  I LOVE them. This was the most awesome mountain man I found at Costco.  I asked to have my picture taken with him.  He told me he was 723 months old. I wish I could remember his name beca...

The 2nd Annual Fair-Williams-Bennett-Copier New Year's Eve Game Night

Image
Last night we got together with some of our best friends to celebrate the new year in style with our 2nd Annual Fair-Williams-Bennett-Copier New Year's Eve Game and Fondue Night.    And as you can plainly see from the picture above, partying is serious business.  We do not mess around.  We dressed up, curled our hair and put our party hats on! Ali made two delicious types of fondue and she had all sorts of stuff to dip in them.  We ate so much!  It was fabulous.  Then Porter and I brought stuff over for a chocolate fondue.  My favorite was the cream puffs dipped in dark chocolate, although the strawberries were a close second. After dinner, a small photo session ensued.  The Awkward Family Photo  (The movie Step-brothers comes to mind)  Our Prom Picture Ali and I are bringing sexy back in 2013 Ummm.......... Cute little family And the cutest couple award goes to... Wh...

And They lived Swingingly Ever After

Image
Once upon a time there lived a girl.  This girl loved to dance.  But this girl was sad.  Every time she saw a invitation to a dance she would get dressed up in her prettiest dress and put on her magical dancing shoes in hopes of a fabulous night full of dancing.  But much to her chagrin all the dances held in the kingdom were not dances that she liked.  She was fond of the old school dancing that she read of in books and heard tale of from the ancients.  The dances held in the Kingdom of the Salt Lake were new dances that bumped and grinded, not the kind of dance that would let her be swept of her feet by a handsome prince.  Then one day her friend told her of a magical dance being held in a distant land of Ogden.  This was a dance like no other, where everyone would dress up from days gone by and dance the mythical 'swing dance.'  She was so excited!  But what would she wear?  She didn't have any clothes from yesteryear.  But...

A Redneck Christmas

Image
We partied like we were in Redneckville on the 24th! Kenzie and Julio showing off all their hard work. Knives are toothpick too.  All dressed up for the party. Charlie's Reindeer Our version of Caroling The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Red carpet ready The Redneck Snowmen Family Picture Time We always have fun at our parties on the 24th of December.  I think this was the first year that I actually got a white elephant I will use.  I ended up with a bottle of chia seeds!  They are so great to cook with.  Ali on the other had ended up with the world's largest pair of underwear, which was promptly stolen from her from my brother.  He is so silly, it was his wife's white elephant gift!  But I guess he couldn't part with them.   We had a great time!  I am now starting to plan for next year.  I'm think the theme will be retro 50's Christmas.
